While Komodo's walls and pinnacles drop to depths well beyond recreational limits, the best marine life action is generally found between 5 and 25 metres. There is rarely a good reason to push beyond 30 metres on recreational dives. The cold water at depth (especially in south Komodo) increases air consumption and narcosis risk, and strong currents make deep diving more hazardous.
Nitrox advantage: Diving with Enriched Air Nitrox (32% or 36%) extends your no-decompression limits at depth, which is particularly valuable on multi-dive days in Komodo. Many mid-range and luxury operators offer Nitrox for free or at a small surcharge.
