Ask about Fun Dives (3 Days)Not all dive operators in Komodo are equal. Here's what to look for when choosing where to book your dives.
Guide Experience
Look for guides with extensive local knowledge of Komodo sites. Ask how many years they've been diving in the park — guides who grew up diving here know the currents, the seasons, and exactly where the marine life is.
Safety Standards
Ensure they carry emergency oxygen, a first aid kit, and DAN insurance on every boat. Ask about their emergency action plan and how long they have been operating in Komodo.
Equipment Quality
Ask to inspect equipment before booking. Well-maintained modern gear (Scubapro, Mares, Apeks) performs better and is significantly safer. Check BCD inflation, regulator breathing ease, and wetsuit condition.
Group Size
Smaller groups mean a more personal experience, better guide attention, and less impact on dive sites. Look for operators who cap groups at 4–6 divers per guide rather than filling the boat.
Boat Quality
Comfortable boats with shade, toilets, and proper safety equipment make long days at sea significantly more enjoyable. Ask about boat size, facilities, and whether they carry a spare engine.
Reviews & Reputation
Read recent reviews (last 12 months) focusing on guide knowledge, safety culture, and post-trip responsiveness. Consistent 4.5+ star ratings across 50+ reviews are a reliable quality indicator.

Second (& Third) Dive
Explore a second — often completely different — habitat. Multi-day packages add more sites each day, building a comprehensive picture of the park.
Three days lets you cover the full spectrum of Komodo diving — northern pinnacles, southern reefs, and manta sites — with 2–3 dives per day.
Day 1 — Northern Pinnacles
Castle Rock and Crystal Rock are Komodo's most celebrated big-fish dive sites. Strong currents funnel up the walls and attract massive schools of fish, grey reef sharks, and Napoleon wrasse.
Day 2 — Southern Reefs & Manta Encounter
The southern zone offers Komodo's most diverse habitats. Cannibal Rock is one of the most biodiverse dive sites on earth. Manta Point and Manta Alley give you the best chance of diving alongside manta rays.
Day 3 — Batu Bolong, Manta Alley & Drift Dives
Batu Bolong is widely regarded as Komodo's best all-round dive site — a seamount with 360° of reef and extraordinary marine density. Day 3 rounds out the trip with a second crack at manta sites and a final drift dive.
Congratulations! After 3 days and up to 9 dives, you'll have experienced the full range of diving that makes Komodo one of the world's top five dive destinations.
