Komodo National Park offers world-class diving year-round, but conditions vary by season. Explore our month-by-month guide to find the perfect time for your diving adventure -- from crystal-clear dry season visibility to warm wet season encounters.
April - October
The dry season offers the best overall diving conditions in Komodo. Crystal-clear visibility, calm seas, and abundant marine life make this the peak period for diving. Water temperatures are slightly cooler but comfortable, and the lack of rain means perfect surface conditions day after day.
March & November
The shoulder months offer an excellent balance of good diving conditions with fewer crowds and better prices. March sees the last of the wet season rains tapering off, while November is the transition into the wet season. Both months still deliver great marine life encounters.
December - February
The wet season brings warmer water temperatures and unique marine life encounters. While visibility can be reduced and rain is more frequent, this is actually the best time for certain species. Budget-friendly prices and empty dive sites make this a great option for flexible divers.

Komodo National Park, located in the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia, is one of the world's premier diving destinations. The park's unique position at the convergence of the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean creates nutrient-rich waters that support an extraordinary diversity of marine life, from massive manta rays to pygmy seahorses.
Understanding the seasonal patterns is key to planning the perfect Komodo diving trip. The dry season (April through October) brings the best visibility, often exceeding 25 meters, along with calm seas and the peak of manta ray activity. The shoulder months of March and November offer a sweet spot of good conditions with fewer crowds and lower prices. Even the wet season (December through February) has its advantages: warmer water temperatures, unique plankton-driven marine encounters, and significant savings on dive packages and accommodation.
No matter when you visit, Komodo delivers exceptional diving. The key is matching your priorities -- whether that is pristine visibility, specific marine life encounters, budget considerations, or crowd avoidance -- with the right month. Use our month-by-month guide above to explore conditions in detail and find your ideal travel window.
